The Internet To School (ITS) project was launched to address information inequality by expanding digital access to education in underserved communities. Its primary goal was to promote educational equity by providing children with meaningful opportunities to engage in digital learning.

Recognizing that the digital divide disproportionately affects young girls—often leading to school exclusion, early marriage, and the cycle of poverty—the project placed particular emphasis on improving educational access through a gender-equitable lens.

The first phase of the project was implemented at Muthainga Academy, a primary school located near Nairobi, Kenya.

The initiative included:

  1. Establishing a computer laboratory within the school

  2. Operating an online tutoring program led by student volunteers

Beyond material support, the ITS project represents a youth-led international partnership aimed at reducing digital inequality and narrowing educational gaps. For Kenyan students, it opened new pathways to learning;

for Megaphone members, it became a meaningful experience of global civic engagement.
